Punny headlines? We can work them out
Daughter Mary McCartney took the official wedding picture above

Paul McCartney's wedding yesterday (9 October 2011) had the sub-editors reaching for their Guinness Book of Hit Singles and other reference books last night. Given the plethora of great song titles Macca has written there was sure to be some inspiration for a headline to be found in his oeuvre*. And indeed there was:

All You Need is Love - The Daily Telegraph
Sir Paul asks Nancy to Love Me Do - i
And he loves her - The Independent (front page)
Long and winding marital road leads McCartney to US heiress The Independent (page 3)
Love me do, croons Macca to wife No3 - Daily Express
I wanna be your man! - Daily Star
Love is all you need - Daily Star (caption)
Love, lovely do - Daily Mirror
I wanna hold your hand, Mrs McCartney - Daily Mirror (pages 2 and 3)
Meanwhile the Daily Mirror ran an editorial headlined Paul McCartney wedding the start of a magical mystery tour
Love me three - The Guardian
All my loving. McCartney weds for the third time - The Guardian (page 9)
Bawl McCartney - The Sun (front page splash referring to a report that Macca cried while singing a specially written song to Nancy at the reception)
No More Lonely Knight - The Sun (page 4)
Ticket to bride - The Sun (caption)
Help from his friend - The Sun (caption)
I wanna hold your hand - The Sun (caption)
She loves you - The Sun (caption)
Love Me I Do - The Sun (caption)
Hello Goodbye - The Sun (caption)
She loves me, yeah, yeah, yeah - The Times (Front page)
Play it for the third time, Sir Paul: All you need is love - The Times (news page)
Banns on the run - Metro (Front page caption) [Unfortunately the main headline, which is a different story, reads similiarly 'Fox on the Run']
Love Me Do, Honey Pie - Metro (page 4)

Only the Daily Mail seems to have resisted the song title pun. Given its obsession with Johnny Foreigner - or in this case Jenny Foreigner - they could have run with Macca marries migrant

But most boring headline of the lot must be that from the New York Post. Keen to show that Nancy has a New York connection they ran: Paul McCartney weds MTA board member Nancy Shevell

Even the Press Association got in on the act with this intro: It must have been a hard day's night for Sir Paul McCartney's north London neighbours after they complained about the noise in the early hours at his wedding party.

When asked how he felt after the ceremony, Sir Paul said: "I feel wonderful". Oh, how I wish he'd said: "I feel fine".

* See what I did there? A sneaky - but obscure - reference to his 1979 album Back to the Egg
