Keith Richards: Got Life if you want it - Part 2

Finally finished reading Keith Richards' autobiography Life (see blog dated Wednesday 12 January). The book is everything I said it was then: a cracking read. Very candid. That straight-forward honesty even extends to his views on Mick Jagger, his song-writing partner and fellow Rolling Stone of nearly half a century. (Yes folks, the Rolling Stones will have been together for 50 years next year, 2012.)

Richards' version of the row is that the two men had been growing apart after 25 years working together. Jagger wanted celebrity and to rub shoulders with the good and the great. Richards just wanted to play music. But when Jagger put his own solo work before that of the Rolling Stones, the rift became permanent.

Today, the two are not friends but they love each other. They rub along and will gang up on any third party who tries to come between them. Richards views him as the brother he never had...but you don't have to like your brother.

Haven't enjoyed a book so much for a long time.
